Congratulations! You have bought a wonderful telescope. This is a precision optical instrument, and you have many wonderful evenings of observing the night sky ahead of you. This on-line guide is to help you assemble your telescope properly.
We know that many people are visually oriented and that pictures of the assembly process would be helpful. Since your telescope assembly guide and instruction manual does not have a lot of pictures, we have put together this online guide to help you assemble your telescope for your first night of observing.
Your iOptron mount comes with a quick start guide. But you may be interested in downloading it or the full iOptron guide for your computer guided mount.

Once your telescope is assembled and ready to go, the rest is up to you. Learning astronomy is all the fun anyhow! So let’s get started . . .
ASSEMBLING THE TRIPOD
Putting the tripod together is a snap!
- Step 1
Attach the iOptron SmartStar Cube to the tripod as shown in Figure 1.

- Step 2
Attach the Accessory tray to the tripod as shown in Figure 2.

- Step 4
Your 90mm telescope needs a “dovetail mounting plate” attached to the bottom. Sometimes, the plate will come pre-attached to the telescope. You may skip this step if your mount plate is pre-attached. Other times, you may have to attach the plate yourself. It’s easy. Using a screwdriver, simply attach the dovetail mounting plate to the bottom of the telescope. Be sure the long end of the mount plate is oriented to the front of the telescope as shown in Figure 4

- Step 5
Once the mounting plate is attached to the telescope, simply slide the assembled telescope right into mount and lock it in place with the set screw as shown in Figure 5.

- Step 6
Next, you can attach the optional sighting scope to the main telescope as shown in Figure 6

- Step 7
The angle prism screws into the back of the telescope tube as shown in Figure 7.

- Step 8
Finally, insert one of your eyepieces into the back of the angle prism, as shown in Figure 8, and you are ready to begin observing. Be sure to tighten the set screw that holds the eyepiece in place.

- Step 9
Check the flip mirror switch. This switch lets you choose to observe through the back of the telescope or the top of the telescope. To observe using the back of the telescope, the switch should be oriented parallel to the telescope tube, as shown in Figure 9.

- Step 10
You did it. Your telescope is set up and ready to use. Please use your included iOptron quick-start guide or download a full iOptron manual here for details on how to use your computer guided mount.
